(Boulder-CO) It was just announced today that Carmelo Anthony and Josh Howard have been selected by Commissioner David Stern to replace Houston’s Yao Ming and Carlos Boozer of the Utah Jazz in the 2007 NBA All-Star Game. Ming and Boozer are not going to be able to participate due to injury. So, as if in a golden ray of sunshine, the Nuggets went from potentially not having any All-Star representation to potentially having a duo if Allen Iverson’s ankle permits.
It is sweet to finally see Carmelo make an appearance to the NBA’s elite and popular, but at the same time bitter in the sense that it had to happen in a “consolation” capacity. I knew it would go down like this; David Stern ultimately making the decision to put the league’s leading scorer where he belongs and making it all seem ok. So I am not surprised, but just remember where you heard it first!
