DerMarr Signs Overseas

(Boulder-CO) It was brought to my attention via this article about a week ago by my main man, Ryan, at www.hoopsaddict.com that DerMarr Johnson will, and has, signed to play basketball overseas next season. Ryan, a huge D.J. fan, was distressed to hear the news, but we as Nuggets fans knew that this was inevitable.

DerMarr Johnson had not proven to be a consistent valuable player to the Nuggets in the last two years and it was time for both parties to go their separate ways. In addition to his lack of consistent play, the Nuggets may already have upgraded the reserve guard position with the acquisition of NBDL star Von Wafer.

Best of luck to DerMarr wherever the basketball dollar takes him!

You're probably right, Commish. DerMarr needs to stay out of the way of the law, and more importantly... the zapper!

Thanks for reading,

Honestly, I'm surprised he lasted even last year. DJ is a very talented player, but what he has in talent, he lacks in desire. Every time I saw him play the last two seasons, I saw a player who was just showing up and collecting a paycheck. Such a contrast from the "happy to be playing NBA basketball again" that he showed his first season.

He sat on the end of that bench last year because of his lack of effort when he played, and when he practiced, not because George Karl didn't like him. I am hoping DJ turns it around in Europe. He was a great comeback story in the making after that auto accident, but he never continued to play hard after the 2004-05 campaign. He was notorious for cheap fouls and launching 3's instead of driving and dunking on shorter defenders, and his defense left much to be desired. George Karl gave him more chances than most coaches would, but he never stepped up. Good Luck DJ.
