The More You Know!

(Boulder-CO) Here are two things you should think about, Nuggets Nation:
1. The Nuggets are only 4-9 when led by Allen Iverson in scoring, but are 17-1 dating back to this time of year last season when he double-doubles with assists.
2. The Nuggets are 10-1 when Carmelo Anthony is the leading scorer, but have lost the only game 'Melo led Denver in rebounding.
The more you know (insert annoying chime)....

Well if Melo would stop moping around when his jumper stops falling and go get boards and get to the hoop and the FT line, then maybe he'd still be the leading scorer. He's been so bad offensively (chucking up WAY worse shots than AI) lately that I can't say that I blame AI for not wanthing to feed it to him. You give him the ball and he immediately tosses up a contested jumper (often times after the pretty but useless whirling dervish-to-jumper move) and then doesn't even go after his own board.

I love the guy, but he's in a shooting funk and isn't doing himself any favors by not being aggressive. Of course AI is going to take over scoring -- who the hell else is going to do it, especially when JR gets a DNP-CD from Porky Pig? Kleiza can score, but his shooting has been worse than JR's the whole season and he's possibly even more in love with the outside shot than JR is, yet he continues to get more playing time...

Anyway, I agree with most people on here that the blame lays mostly with George Karl for once again winging it with the offensive gameplan (even though AI has shown that he's far better in half-court sets) and never being an active force in the games. AI is playing his ass off and nobody else (save K-Mart, Camby, and Anthony Carter) are doing anything but a below-average job at their position lately.

Melo will get out of the shooting funk eventually, but George really needs to find a way to get scoring from someone else when Melo/AI aren't scoring at their regular clip. Having Nene back may or may not help (K-Mart's been GREAT), but the inside-out game is definitely stronger with him down there. Melo has seemed to totally drop his post game (the best and most effective part of his arsenal) in the past few games and it's totally robbed us of the open jumpers that we normally get when Melo/Nene get doubled in the paint.

But yeah, George is really wearing on me now. Something has to give, because if we're floating around .500 in February, we'll probably be watching Portland get eliminated in the first round instead of our boys...

How much of these problems are from point guard troubles? I know a lot of guys are just standing around on offense but Melo and Iverson like to get shots and who can blame them because they can actually score. But after a while, guys are going to realize that they arent going to get the ball anyways so they just stand around.

What would you think if we went out and traded for a solid point guard. I know Sam Cassell has expressed interest in playing for denver. He could bring some solid leadership, he can hit the three and dish the ball. I know Chucky Atkins and Nene still have to come back and it is unseen how good (or unreliable) this team can be. What do you guys think?

stumbleweed got it right, when you are in a funk, go for a dunk! Attack that basket on the Offensive AND Defensive end, don't settle for anything more than 5 feet away! That's only if they want to win of course. That and the rest of team needs to get their Shhtuff together too.

If I was getting paid to play I would at least make sure that I am able to contribute to my team winning. I'm not saying that these guys are not good, I'm just saying that they need to bring it every night, show some pride.

I still believe that this group of guys can WIN AGAINST ANY TEAM in the LEAGUE,.. IF they happen to be feeling it that night.. On the other side of the coin, they can LOSE TO ANY TEAM in the LEAGUE too!!!!!!?? If AI doesn't get any help from Good Coaching or the rest of the team it's going to seem to be yet another selfish game for him. Not because he is not passing the ball, but because the other Nuggs are not making their shots..

Their next game is on Friday (my time) and it is going to be televised on TNT here and instead of being excited to watch I'm actually afraid because it's like Russian Roulette with these guys..

Oh well, just for the hell of it, by the off chance that they have a good game..

Go NUGGETS?!
