J.R. Smith in Fender Bender; One Seriously Hurt

(Boulder-CO) While back at home in New Jersey, J.R. Smith was involved in an automobile accident with friend, Andre Bell, being seriously injured and air lifted to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune with severe head wounds.

The driver of the other automobile was also injured, but both he, J.R. Smith, and Smith’s other passenger, Carl Marshall, were taken to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold via ambulance, but the three avoided serious injuries.

Carl Marshall had just completed his senior basketball season at Seton Hall University.

The rest of the story, including whose fault the accident allegedly was, can be found right here.

Referring to this accident as a "Fender Bender" is an understatement when you consider people were ejected from cars and hospitalized. Fender Bender is used when you bump someone's car and only the car is damaged. This was a serious car accident.

If I changed the title to horrific-bloody-wreck would that change anything?

I agree, thaanswer. This is the second car accident he has been in this year. Carmelo and J.R. missed practice last season because of a bang up.

Well, Andre Bell died late last night. No idea what this means for JR aside from losing a friend... he'll probably get charged with something, especially if toxicology comes back positive. It was a mid-day run back from the barbershop, so I wouldn't think he was drunk or anything, but I guess you never know. JR has a ridiculous driving record -- he's had his license suspended 5+ timesm but apparently he's in "good standing" because he paid the fines...

I dunno, but dude needs to hire a driver because this is crazy. RIP to Andre and best wishes to the family. Just rough stuff and a horrible way to start off the day.
