(Boulder-CO) Longtime reader JM asked me to dig up some old school Laphonso Ellis footage for him and this is what I came up with. Sorry the highlight reel is in Spanish, but the clip of LaPhonso is well worth the wait to see what number in the countdown he comes in at. Enjoy!

Hey, Thanks for the post Nugg Doctor. That was the only LaPhonso Clip I could find too.
It's a shame there isn't more on this guy. Easily one of the most underrated players in the NBA during his career. During his first two years in the NBA, he missed a total of two games, averaging nearly 15 points, 9 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots a game. This while playing forward along side Dikembe Mutombo. He was an electric player to watch, and was one of the unsung heroes of the 1994 team that upset the Sonics. It was his shot over Shawn Kemp in overtime in game 5 that clinched the series upset.
It's a shame his injuries hurt his career so much. He was on his way to being a top 5 power forward in the NBA before injuries plagued him for the next several years.
He played with heart, with enthusiasm and was a class act off the court. A close friend of mine was volunteering at the Denver Rescue mission during Ellis' playing days at Christmas time, to find himself working along side LaPhonso. There were no media watching his every move and no "look at what I'm doing for the community" sort of praise. He was a quiet and thoughtful person just helping out those in need.
I digress, but he was a huge part of the community and an underrated player in his heyday. Thanks for the props Nugg Doctor!
