(Boulder-CO) Tonight the Nuggets (0-2) host the New York Knicks (1-3) at the Pepsi Center. ESPN.com lists the Nuggets as a ten-point favorite, but if what I have seen so far is any indication, this game might be much closer than that. The Nuggets are still lacking the killer instinct that plagued them last season. They have consistently outplayed their opponents this year thus far, but always seem to get bitten by the fourth quarter bug. Last game for instance saw the Nuggets outscore the T-Wolves in every quarter but the fourth and consequently take the L in a game where I thought they looked like the superior team from the tip. Needless to say, it was a hard loss for me to take.
Tonight I’m looking for the Nuggets to break out of this mini-funk. Despite playing a New York Knicks team that is in the process of organizational transformation, I just feel that the Nuggets are ready to get off the schnied with the win. The Knicks will most likely be without Steve Francis and their other high-profile guard Stephon Marbury is struggling right now (maybe it’s the shoes?).
Interesting notes on this game will be how 5’9” Nate Robinson, the 2006 Slam Dunk Champion, will match up with the Nuggets 5’5”, “mighty-micro”, Earl Boykins. Earl doesn’t get a whole lot of chances to be matched-up with a fellow his size, so it should be fun to watch. As would a Nuggets victory, so I am taking myself off the shelf as far as predicting games is concerned, and am taking the Nuggets by seven points over the Knicks.
Be sure to check The Nugg Doctor after the game for a complete game recap with statistical breakdown, analysis, and highlights of tonight’s game. C’mon Nuggets, you’re playing the Knicks for crying out loud!

keep talking shit, nugg doctor. you and i both know the knicks will lose tonight!
(wait, what?)
They better win! This is my first regular season game in my 10-game package. Nothing worse than seeing your team lose in person.
But yeah, I think your prediction is a good one -- less than 10 points, but should be a good win regardless. I'm keeping an eye on J.R. smith -- I'd hate to think he's already getting benched. But maybe DerMarr is the answer there, since (as you mentioned) he's ind of a mix between the two.
I'm really looking forward to some nasty dunks from J.R. this year though, so hopefully they're going to keep playing him. Have you heard the rumors about sending J.R. and another player (probably Joe Smith) to LA for Maggette? As much as I'd hate to see J.R. go somewhere else, I think Maggette would ge a good fit on the team with his shooting touch and penetration ability. Injury concerns aside, I think that would be a nice move for them. But his injury concerns are big concerns -- so maybe it's too risky...
Will do Marcel! Between you and I, and I guess the rest of the internet, Renaldo is probably going to have a triple double tonight!

stumbleweed,
I have heard such rumors and have looked into them with some highly technologically advanced, precisely calibrated, and top secret equipment and have come to the conclusion that it's all a bunch of bologna.
Elgin Baylor AKA The God Father of High Flyers has publically stated that such rumors are just bogus. The Nuggets may want to deal J.R., but the Clippers are not too keen on the idea.
But what do I know, this is the NBA and anything can happen. It's not like I called Baylor at home!

The Nuggets have had awhile off in the first week of play, This should be able to out run the Knicks who just had a game two day before yestersday. I was excited on J.R. in the offseason, but now watching these first two season games, I have lost my confidence in J.R., he is still very raw at everything he does on the court, hopefully his game will shape up.
Yo Nugg Doctor, appreciate the visit. I'm a frequent visitor and will glady put up a link. Sorry about that loss tonight- must've been a tough one, and believe you me, I know how that feels. Carmelo does look great, though. Keep up the good work.
