(Boulder-CO) Chris Tomasson of the Rocky Mountain News points out that as Marcus Camby’s durability grows so does his bank account. Chris writes, “That means Camby, whose base salary is $8 million, again has a good opportunity to earn most of the bonuses in his incentive-laden contract. As early as next Tuesday, Camby can secure $500,000 for stepping on the court for his 50th game.”Wow!
So, basically, what this means is if Camby is able to actually do his job even 60% of the time than not only does he make all the money in his contract, but he also gets humungous bonuses along the way for, you guessed it, doing his job! You have got to love the NBA in this regard because, I am going out on a limb here but, I highly doubt that if any of us only came to work 60% of the time that there would be any bonuses (especially of that size) in our paychecks.
