(Boulder-CO) I apologize to the Nuggets faithful for not being able to post a fresh article today until just now. I know it’s a couple of hours before game time, but I figure better late than never. Hopefully in 2007 I can make The Nugg Doctor my only and full-time priority. So without anymore belly-aching, here is a preview for tonight’s game.
The Bucks are going to be without Charlie Villanueva and the NBA’s fifth leading scorer Michael Redd. This is paramount for the Nuggets because they need a win like a wino needs a little sippy sippy. The Bucks will be missing their best rebounder and scorer and the Nuggets need to dig deep for the courage and determination to find a W at any cost.
Tonight is the last game that J.R. Smith has to spend on the suspended list too. With him returning to the active roster the Nuggets will have another option attacking the basket while also bolstering their fast-break and three-point shooting. And what a much needed option at that! J.R. has also been reportedly working diligently on his defense in hardcore sessions with the offensive genius of one Carmelo Anthony. All sounds good to me because he should still be in condition to play and maybe has learned a thing or two from Anthony about how to stop someone that has such a deadly offensive game.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I am looking for AI to breakout of this two-game funk that he has been in. I know that it’s crazy to look back at his past two box-scores and say that this guy needs to play better, but he is capable of the big numbers and is no stranger to the pressure. If the Nuggets are to win tonight he needs to take the game over and put his team on his back in the true spirit of being a leader. No one else is going to breakout and have a huge game but Iverson, so it would be nice to end this five-game skid right here tonight with a win over the shorthanded Bucks. 17-15 is too close to .500 for me and certainly not indicative of how good of a team the Denver Nuggets are.
If a couple of the guys that have been playing poorly as of late can answer the call of duty the Nuggets will win. If it is the same ol’ “What me, rise to the occasion?” Nuggets they will lose to a team that they should win against when all things are considered. Keep your fingers crossed, Nuggets fans… You just never know what you are going to get!
